We can separate a mixture containing sawdust, naphthalene, and iron filings by sublimation and using a magnet.
- sublimation is defined as changing of a substance from a solid state to a gaseous state without becoming liquid. Here naphthalene is a sublime material so it will be evaporated directly into the atmosphere leaving behind a mixture of sawdust and iron filings.
- Now with the help of a magnet, we will extract the iron fillings from the mixture which leaves behind the sawdust. In this way, we will separate each substance from the mixture.
