Take a glass and pour vinegar in it and put a straw in it and blow through it. You will find that the vinegar becomes milky. The becoming of milky is the presece of the carbon dioxide.

exhaled air has more CO2 Because when we eat food it breaks down into glucose and ATP. this process is known as respiration . during respiration glucose , water and CO2 is released . this CO2 travels from blood to lungs and from lungs outside the body.
therefore, small amount of CO2 is inhaled but the CO2 exhaled is in large amount.
