Heya....!!!!
When HCl reacts with an active metal hydrogen gas will liberate.
Reaction : Hcl + Zn ---> ZnCl + H2
to test this gas we will pass the solution through soap solution and then by bringing a burning candle near it, it will produce pop sound indicating hydrogen is liberated.

bring a burning splinter near the test tube it will be burn with a Pop sound which indicate that the hydrogen gas is evolved.....
