Hey friend,
Here is your answer:
When an active metal reacts with hydrochloric acid, the gas liberated is hydrogen. To test for the gas, bring a burning splinter near the mouth of the gas jar containing hydrogen. The splinter will be extinguished. The gas will burn with a pop sound, indicating that hydrogen is the gas present in the jar.
Hope it helps u.
