how will you test for the gas which is liberated when hydrchloric acid reacts with an active metal

The gas can be tested by bringing a burning matchstick near the mouth of the test tube where the reaction has occurred.
The matchstick will produce a pop sound . This tells us that the gas liberated is hydrogen gas. Hope it helps!
