A leaf is taken, that has been exposed to sunlight. The leaf is boiled in boiling water: To make the tissue more permeable to iodine.Extracting the chlorophyll out of the leaf: For clarity of the iodine test. The boiled leaf is taken in a test tube and immersed in alcohol. The test tube is then subjected to water bath. This process is continued until the alcohol turns green. The leaf is taken out and kept in a Petri dish. The leaf is iodine flooded. If the colour of the leaf turns brown, this signifies the presence of starch in the leaf.

Thank You.

hey!!mate here is your answer

The experiment was done with a plant called China rose.but it can be done with any plant.

but we need to find out if starch us present in leaves.we already know how to test for starch, but a problem arises if you try this test with leaves.leaves are green in colour.when iodine solution is put on aleaf,it should turn blue if starch is present.however the green colour of leaves. of the leaf distinguishes .so u must remove the green colour of the leaves.if you want to test whether they contain starch..

hope it will be helpful to you.....
