a few drops or a few crystal of unknown sample are dissolved in 1 ml of methanol and slowly added to 1 ml of saturated solution of Sodium Bicarbonate evolution of carbon dioxide gas is positive test for the presence of carboxylic acid.
by doing this we can test the presence of Carboxylic acid
