If resources are used in accordance with short term aims, present generation will be able to utilize the resources properly for growth and development.
But if we use resources with long term aims, future generation will also be able to utilize resources for fulfilling its needs.
Thus it would be better to use our natural resources with a long term perspective so that it could be used by the present generation as well as conserved for future use. But it will deprive future generation from the benefits of these resources as resources are exhaustible.

The short term usage is different from the long term perspective in management of resources:

Explanation:

  • The sustainable development can be defined as the use of resources in a sense that the resources remain available for future generation without compromising the needs of the present population.
  • The short term exploitation of the natural resource will fulfill the current needs of the population.
  • The management of the resources in a way that can fulfill the needs of the future generation is advantageous for the sustainability of future population.
  • The long term use of the resources can be accomplished by the sustainable use.
