One of his most sought out work is the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University which started as a result of Aligarh movement. Initially in 1867 he started a school named Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental School. This same school later turned out to be that famous university. He advocated British educational system and appreciated scientific learning and incorporated English as a language of instruction in his school.
