Plants belong to the category of autotrophic nutrition i.e. they are capable of making their own food for nutrition using inorganic components like water and carbon dioxide as well as sunlight.
Heteotrophic organisms cannot make their own food but are dependent on plants for nutrition. They are of various types:
a) Holozoic - These organisms are dependent on others for their nutrition. eg. humans & animals
b) Parasitic - These organisms live inside or on the host and draw nutrients from their for their survival. eg. round worms
c) Saprophytic - They obtain their nutrition from dead and decaying matter. eg. Mushrooms
d) Symbiotic - These organisms enter into a mutual association wherein both sides are benefitted. eg. Algae and Fungi
