Well, I would be a good friend present in times of need, and help my friend in every way I can do.
I would advice her not to breakdown and, rather be brave, and report the matter to the police. Thieves and pick-pockets are quite common in our country and we do need to take disciplinary actions against those people.
I would also provide him/her some financial help, by giving him/her some money.
I would act as a true friend.
