A cell reference, or cell address, is an alphanumeric value used to identify a specific cell in a spreadsheet. Each cell reference contains one or more letters followed by a number. The letter or letters identify the column and the number represents the row.

3R × 6C refers to range starting from 1st colum 1st , 1st row and spread till 6th column and 3rd row.

  • A cell address is represented by its column and row identifier  (alphanumeric value).
  • The columns are represented by alphabets from A to Z, then after Z, the combination of alphabets represent the columns like AA AB AC..........
  • The rows are represented by numbers from 1 to ........ as much as rows we want.
  • For example,
  • a cell D7 represents,
  • Dth column    (4th column)
  • 7th row
  • 3R × 6C refers to range starting from 1st colum 1st , 1st row and spread till 6th column and 3rd row.
