Roads can be constructed easily in hilly terrains and undulating topography
They provide door to door services
They act as feeder to other modes of transport as that connect a link between railway and sir and sea ports
It can be economically accessible to common people too.

Road transport generates more employment than railway transport. It is easy to have access over hilly areas whereas it is not possible with railway transport. For laying of roads it costs less and consumes less time but to lay tracks for railway transport it is opposite.
