Saprolegnia reproduces either sexually or asexually (Alderman, 1982). Sexual reproduction is by fusion of two gametes to form a thick-walled oospore, whereas asexual reproduction is by means of zoospores produced in a zoosporangium, which develops at the end of non-septate cells.
