2: earlier greater emphasis was given on satisfying basic needs such as food , shelter , clothing which was derived from natural resources. for example, even today the pygmies of Africa eat edible plants ,roots,flowers,fruits and hunt animals
3:in urban societies,greater emphasis is given on utilisation of resources for multifarious needs of the humans.
4: earlier human civilization flourished along river valleys as they used water for irrigation
5:we now use water for irrigation, navigation, generating electricity
