➡️ Human Resources Management (HRM) plays a vital role in the success of any industry. It is more so in the case of the construction industry, particularly in India, as it is labor intensive. The construction industry in India has grown remarkably in terms of practices, technology and use of skills in the last few decades. A total investment of about USD 906 billion for the period 2012

➡️ 2016 in the Indian construction sector has been estimated and of this 49%, 43%, and 8% will be towards development in the infrastructure, real estate and industrial sectors, respectively (PwC, 2013). The construction sector in India is expected to grow at the rate of 8.9% on a year-on-year basis during 2013

➡️ 2018 (AECOM, 2013). Therefore, a special focus on the development of human resources with respect to the Indian construction sector gains importance. In order to keep pace with the needs of the construction sector in terms of human resources, we have to understand the present human resources management (HRM) practices and challenges prevailing in it. In this paper, we describe our effort to identify the HRM challenges prevailing in the Indian construction sector.
