A satire is a poem or story which makes fun of negative aspects of people in the society.
Mrs. Packletide's Tiger is a satire as the author ridicules aspects like vanity and jealousy of the three ladies of the lesson.
The author says that Mrs. Packletide is a very vain, jealous lady. She wants to be one up on Mrs. Loona Bimberton, her rival. She badly wants to kill a tiger and be in the limelight. Mrs. Loona Bimberton is no better than Mrs. Packletide. She too is a person who shows off. She always talks about her experience in the Algerian aviator she had. In this way, the author makes fun of Mrs. Loona Bimberton. Ms. Mebbin is a money minded person. She is paid even for giving company to Mrs. Packetide. She also blackmails Mrs. Packletide to give money to buy a villa. This is a hush money.. to shut her mouth about the secret -- the wrong animal been shot.
These prove that this story is a real satire.
