Sulphur has 6 valence electrons and one Oxygen need two electrons to complete its octate.  \therefore 3 oxygen atoms need 2×3 = 6 electrons to complete their octate.

<strong><em> </em></strong><strong><em>\</em></strong>therefore SO3 is a AB3 type compound which means it has three bond pairs and zero lone pairs. Hence it is sp2 hybridised.
