HYDROCHLORIC ACID IS VERY NECESSARY IN DIGESTION BECAUSE IN DIGESTION OF STOMACH HCL SECRETE TO MAKE THE CARBOHYDRATES ACIDIC SO THAT PEPSIN CAN BREAK DOWN PROTIENS.
SECOND REASON---- HCL ALSO KILL BACTERIAS IN STOMACH WHICH ENTERS WITH FOOD .

its true that it is not a enzyme but it has a major role to play in stomach as it kills the bacteria present in the stomach
