Every atom has an orbit where (n=principal quantum number ) and every orbit has a subshell. Every subshell of same orbit contains different energy. One electron of hydrogen is excited to the 3rd principal shell means that electron is staying or exist in one of the subshell of third orbit. Thus the  three spectral or emission lines possible as the third orbit contains three sub shells having different energy are  3s , 3p and 3d.
