Hydrogen atom of chloroform is definitely acidic, but that of methane is not. Comment ​

Answer :-

Due to the three electronegative chlorine atoms present on carbon, the latter acquires partial positive charge due to (-) I - effect of chlorine, with the result it tends to attract electrons of the C — H bond towards itself. Hence, removal of hydrogen atom as proton becomes easy.

Therefore, hydrogen atom of chloroform

is definitely acidic, but that of methane is

not.
