Diatomic hydrogen is a gas that, at atmospheric pressure, liquefies and solidifies only at a very low temperature (20 degrees and 14 degrees above absolute zero, respectively). In 2011 Eremets and Troyan reported observing the liquid metallic state of hydrogen and deuterium at static pressures of (260–300 GPa).
