hydrogen is evolved when dilute HCl reacts with magnesium but nothing happens in the case of Mercury and silver explain

Magnesium is more reactive metal than hydrogen so it displaces hydrogen from its place but mercury and silver are less reactive metals than hydrogen so they don't displace hydrogen from it's place
