  • A line joins the two points B(k,-5) and C(1,2) and having the slope = 7.

\sf\red{  \underline{\underline{TO  \:  \: FIND :}}}

  • The value of k

\sf\red{  \underline{\underline{SOLUTION :}}}

Let B(k,-5) = (x1, y1) and C(1,2) = (x2, y2)

We know,

Formula of slope when passing through 2 points,

 \boxed{ \sf{\green{Slope =  \frac{y _ 2 - y _1}{x _ 2 - x _1} }}}

Putting the required values we get,

 \implies \: \sf{7 =  \frac{2 \:  -  \: ( - 5)}{1  \: -  \: k}}

 \implies \: \sf{7 =  \frac{2 \:   +  \:  5}{1  \: -  \: k}}

On cross multiplying,

\implies \: \sf{7 \:  -   \: 7k \: = 7}

\implies \: \sf{ \cancel7 \:  -   \: 7k \: =  \cancel7}

\implies \: \sf{  -   \: 7k \: = 0}

 \boxed{\sf{ \therefore \:  k \: = 0}}

Hence, the required value of k = 0
