Given:

A fraction is equivalent to 2/3.

The denominator of fraction = 10 more than the numerator

                                                = 10 + numerator

Find:

The fraction which is equivalent to 2/3.

Answer:

The fraction which is equivalent to 2/3 is 20/30.

Solution:

Let the numerator of the fraction be x.

∴ Denomiator = 10 + x           ------------------- (i)

Fraction = x/(10 + x)

According to question, we have

x/(10 + x) = 2/3

On cross multiplying the above equation, we get

3x = 2(10 + x)

3x = 20 + 2x

3x - 2x = 20

x = 20

∴ Numerator of the fraction, x = 20

Puting the value of x in (i), we get

Denominator of the fraction = 10 + (20)

                                               = 10 + 20

                                               = 30

Now, the fraction = x/(10 + x)

                             = 20/30

Hence, the required fraction 20/30.
