I am posting this question again for an satisfactory answer.. anyone present can answer me......... why in areas more prone to earthquakes, houses are built with wide staircases?do not write it you can't give the full conception.... and try to give a full idea why these have wide staircases.....

Because areas prone to eathquakes can have earthquake at any time so if earthquake happens the lift wont work so people will run in panic so if more people run in a small staircase they stumble, fall and die
