The fall of the Gupta Empire was not due to internal fault, but rather to the violent and irresistible invasions of the Huns. In conclusion I believe the Mauryan and Gupta periods are seen as the height of early Indian civilizations mainly due to the fact that they were ruled by Indian ruler.
