Direct and Indirect Speech
Direct speech:
- In direct speech, we simply repeat what someone said in exactly the same words. Quotation marks are used to enclose the words.
- For example, he said to me, "are you studying for the exam."
Indirect Speech:
- In Indirect speech, we report what someone said by choosing different words. We can change the words to narrate but the context should be the same.
- For example, he asked me if I was studying for exam.
