The lines spoken by the father in this poem are a culmination of the feeling that the father has for the son, these feelings have not had a chance to escape him and hence he has had a very bad time trying to contain himself and therefore, he comes to a realization.

He comes to the realization that the grief that he had felt from the fact that he did not understanding his own son slowly converted into anger since he could not understand what he was doing and why he was doing certain things.

This is the reason that these lines are spoken by the father to the son.
