A misguided, mis-educated young man whose quest for meaning and identity as a black man in white America leads him into numerous dangerous situations. Although he undoubtedly has a name, he remains nameless and "invisible" throughout the novel.

The rustic characters that are created by Hardy has a huge contribution in the development of the plot of the novel "The Invisible Man"

The rustic characters in the play provides the local colour and flavour in the play. The rustic characters in the play represent the the view point of the local middle class families and people. The lifestyle and the outlook of the lower middle class people was not highlighted in novels of 19th century but these rustic characters helped to represent it through the play.
