I had written 'fibres' as the answer in the question'Besides nutrients, water and _________ are also required by our body.' and the correct answer was given as 'roughage'. But rughage and fibre are the same so, please clarify it.

Well first of all 'roughage' is fibrous waste of vegetables. And also as you said fibres. They are synonyms. So your answer is correct but the examiner will go through your textbook. What is written on your textbook will solve question either fibres or roughage. So all the best hope your paper checker will give you a mark.

actually, when we eat any fruit or something what happen is that our body absorbs the juice and leave the waste or roughage in our body which is afterwards excreted and roughage and fiber is same.
