irst arrange by author; this can be done in 3! = 6 ways.
Next, the Dickens books can be arranged in 3! = 6 ways,
the Alcott books in 2! = 2 ways and the Salinger books
in 2! = 2 ways. The total number of ways is thus
6*6*2*2 = 144 ways,

ayeshamuhammad1: What does arranging by author means , having done it before in any sum
