Let the number of marbles distributed be x
---------------------------------------
and the number of boys = 18 ; then
Each boy will receive = x/18 marbles
=========================
If number of marbles and number of boys increased by two ; then

Each boy will receive
= (x-2)/(18+2)
= (x-2)/20 marbles
_____________________
which is 5 marbles less than earlier ;

(x-2)/20 = (x/18) - 5
(x/20) - (1/10) = (x/18) - 5
5 - (1/10) = (x/18) - (x/20)
(50-1)/10 = (10x-9x)/180
49/10 = x/180
x = (49/10) × 180
x = 49×18
x = 882
======================
Hence the number of marbles been distributed is 882.
