I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me, And what can be the use of him is more than
I can see. He is very, very like me from the heels up to the head; And I see him jump before me, when
I jump into my bed.
The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow - Not at all like proper children, which
is always very slow; for the sometimes shoots up taller like an India - rubber ball, And he sometimes
gets so little that there’s none of him at all.
One morning, very early, before the sun was up, I rose and found the shining dew on every butter
cup; but my little shadow, like an arrant sleepy head, He stayed at home behind me and was fast asleep
in bed. can any help me by telling the meaning of this poem?

Shadow never leaves a person alone even in his bad time .
This poem is all about a shadow . The poet here describes how his shadow repeats everything what he do.The poet says that it is likely the same as he looks and it imitates his every action . When the poet jumps on his bed , it jumps too. you know that when a person comes close to its shadow it 's size or you can say growth increases and this is what the poet is saying here . he is depicting this as a funniest thing as it's growth is not at all the same as the growth of a child. As a rubber ball when thrown , it dances continuously and is not at all stable ,the same way shadow is not at all stable as what poet do it imitates him. Some times shadow becomes so small that it becomes invisible. In the last line the poet says that when he woke up early in the morning ,when the sun was up his shadow was no more , this happened because in the morning shadow disappears.
