since, we know that -

Index or power :- the index or power of a number says how many times we have to use the number in a multiplication. e.g., $5^2=5\times5=25$

Base:- The number that gets multiplied when we are using an exponent or also how many digits in a number system.

Now, according to question, we can illustrate as;

• In $M^n$, here M is the base and n is called as exponent or power or index. e.g., $a\times a\times b=a^2b$
