I have been given a horseshoe magnet and a magnetic needle no poles are marked on horseshoe how I will determine the poles of horseshoe magnet

Magnetic field lines are the way.

These lines are always from north to South pole.

So using the iron nails you can find out the poles by placing the nails near the magney and observing the diagram formed. The line will start from north and will end in South.
