Plastic is a relatively recent invention and is developed after crud oil is processed. Since it's discovery it is probably the most versatile material of the past 100 years and is now used to make classes, cutlery, furniture, clothing accessories, food packaging, in cars, weapons, CDs and DVDs, and everything in between.

However, plastic is highly non-biodegradable, this means it does not degrade or break down on a molecular level.

As landfills consist of plastic more and more, they can damage soil and water and can seriously damage the environment and ecosystems.

However, despite efforts, no reliable alternative has been found.
