I heard that it is possible to convert lead to gold.is it possible how?

(this idea was believed to be true since the medieval times. this led to the creatin of a false science called alchemy, in which people thought that mixing fundamental elements i.e. fire water earth air they could form new elements. Alchemy was proved to be wrong and was gradually converted to a new and true science called chemistry.)
It is not impossible but it is really hard and expensive.
gold has an atomic no. of 79
and lead has an atomic no. of 82.
therefore in order to convert the lead to gold, you will need to remove 3 protons
from the nucleus of the lead atom in order to reduce lead's atomic no. to gold's
 this process is very expensive. that y people buy gold instead of obtaining it from lead!
