(i) If the point (-1 ,- 5) lies on the graph of the linear equation

3x = ay + 7, then find the value of ’a’.

(ii) Give the equations of any two lines passing through

the point (3 ,4).​

Answer:

3x = ay + 7

put x= -1 , y = -5

3(-1) = a(-5) + 7

-3 = -5a +7

-3-7 = -5a

-10 = -5a

a= 10/5

a= 2

equation of line passing thru the points (3 ,4) are

3x +y = 13

x+4y = 19

x+y = 7
