I invited my friend for dinner at my home but while dining the light went off. He was alarmed and did no know what to do. He hugged himself and started muttering prayers for it was already ten in the night. I asked him to calm down as this was usual in my neighborhood. Unfortunately he wouldn't budge. I dragged him from the chair and made him sit on the bed. I lit a candle and sat next to him. He was shivering. I put my arm around him a both of us lay still and quite for a while. I was falling asleep when he broke the silence. "I have seen things happen at night" he had said, frightened. He continued, "these things......they..they weren't supposed to happen". I got goosebumps. What had he seen that was scaring him? After all, he wasn't a stranger to fear. He escaped crocodiles and climbed mountains. The thought of him, such a brave guy getting scared frightened me, a skinny little boy. I spoke up "what was it that you saw" but he went still. He put his finger to his lips and told me to listen. There was a soft purring sound and a chill went down my spine.
