Question :

Irfan says that he has 7 marbles more than five times the marbles Parmit has. Irfan has 37 marbles. ( Take m to be the number of Permit's marbles)

To find :

The number of marbles Parmit has

Let us assume,

Permit's marbles be m

Solution :

According to the question,

  • Irfan has 7 marbles = 7

  • He has five times the marbles Permit has = 5m

  • Total no of marbles Irfan has = 37

So the equation stands to be :

→ 5m + 7 = 37

Transposing 7 on the R.H.S. we get

→ 5m = 37 - 7

→ 5m = 30

→ m = 30/5

→ m = 6

So Permit has 6 marbles

Given :

  • Irfan has 7 marbles more than five times the marbles Parmit has.
  • Irfan has 37 marbles.

To find :

  • the number of Permit's marbles.

Solution :

⇒ Creating the Equation.

  • Here, Irfan has 37 marbles. And Parmit has 7 marbles more than five times the marbles. So,

5x + 7 = 37

⇒ Let's solve the Equation.

Here, the number of marbles be m.

5m + 7 = 37

    5m = 37 - 7

    5m = 30

       x = 30/5

          = 6

  • Therefore, Parmit has 6 marbles.
