Let the numbers be x and y
Then by the given conditions,
x+y = 14 ------(1)
xy = 46 ------(2)
We have to find x²+y²
x²+y² can also be written as
x²+y² = (x+y)² - 2xy -------(3)
Substituting (1) and (2) in (3)
x²+y² = 14² - 2*46
= 196 - 92
= 104

Answer:
106
Are you sure product is 46? If its 45. see below
= 9 + 5 = 14
= 9 * 5 = 45.
So sum of squares of 9 and 5 are
9 * 9 = 81
5 * 5 = 25
= 81 + 25
= 106
