opposite sides are equal

so

x + y = 22. ---( l )

x - y = 16. ---( ll )

adding the equations ( l ) & ( ll ) we get

2x = 38

x = 19

putting x= 19 in equation ( l ) we get

19 + y = 22

y = 22 - 19

y = 3

so x = 19 & y = 3 is your required answer
