The Moon orbits around the Earth because gravity depends on distance and moon is closer to the Earth.

  • We know that the Sun is a lot more huge than the Earth.
  • But the distance of the Sun from the Earth and moon is so much that the gravitational pull of the Earth is more towards the moon rather than the Sun.
  • Hence, due to the gravitational pull of the Earth , the moon orbits around the Earth as it is closer to the Earth.
