This story is abou a beggar who was a drunkard. His name was Lushkoff. An advocate named Sergai offers him work at his house in order to make him stop begging and inorder to mae him able to feed himself by working.

But he was showing his unwillingness to chop wood as it was very laborious work. Somehow he manages to do the work and stopped begging.

After some years, when Sergai meets Lushkoff, Sergai was suprised to see that Lushkoff was not a beggar anymore instead now he is a notary.
