Answer:

1.  Let p(x) = 4x³ - 3x² + 4x -2

(i)

Let x+2 = 0

x = -2

Remainder theorem,

p(1) = 4(-2)³ - 3(-2)² + 4(-2) - 2

       = -32 - 12 - 8 -2

     = -32 - 12 - 10 = -32 - 22 = -54

So, R = -54

(ii)

Let x+1/2 = 0, x= 2

p(2) = 4(2)³ -3(2)² + 4(2) -2

       = 32 - 12 +  8 -2

      = 26

So, remainder is 26

ii.

Q1)i

if x+2=0

x=-2

f(-2)=4(-2)^3-3(-2)^2+4(-2)-2

= -32-12-8-2

= –56 is your remainder

ii) if x+1/2=0

x= –1/2

f(–1/2)=–1/2–3/4–4

=–21/4 is your remainder
