Formation of rainbow and its relation to the nature
What are rainbows?'
It is a phenomenon that occurs in the sky when light passes through the water droplets suspended in the air as a result of reflection, refraction and diserpsion.
What is the mechanism of the formation of rainbow?
A multicolored arc is formed if the light strikes the water droplets suspended in air at an angle of 42 degrees. This like beam refracts and then reflects. This reflected light again refracts from another droplet.
Relation of rainbow with nature and properties of light.
- It is a property of light that when it enters from one lighter medium to another denser medium, it bends. This is called refraction.
- When light hits an object and bounces off, it is called reflection.
- Both of these properties are used in the formation of rainbow.
- Rainbow is one of the most beautiful phenomena of nature.
