I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence two roads diverged in a word, and I took the one less travelled by.and that has made all the difference.​

wanted wear and tear, that is, he has taken or chosen a profession or decision which was not a much chosen decision and was (kind of) ignored by many. He regrets his decision taken earlier and wanted to go back and take the other road, but as one road leads to another and one can seldom come back, thus he could not take the other road, and his decision has made all the difference and has changed his life.
