( i ) The Archimede's Principle states that When a solid body is partially or fully immersed in a fluid, the fluid exerts an upward force on the body, whose magnitude is equal to the weight of the displaced fluid.

( ii ) When a solid body is partially or fully immersed in a fluid ( liquid or gas ) the fluid exerts an upward force on the solid. This force is called the force of buoyancy, buoyant force or upthrust.
