I've gotta make a project on UNTOUCHABILITY IN INDIA so please help me answer the following questions based on this topic (this topic comes under history an I'm studying in gr8, so kindly answer appropriately):
1) Who were the untouchables?
2) Why were they called so?
3) What problems did they face?
4) Important leaders who worked for the eradication of untouchability.
5) How did each of those leaders contribute to the eradication of untouchability?
6) Literature of that period that highlighted the evils of untouchability ( For example, Premchand's stories like Thakur's Well, The Shroud).

I've copy pasted the questions from the book so I'll probably not be able to further explain the questions (Especially the last one).............Thank You!!

Untouchables were the people from the castes which were considered as the lower castes.

They were called so because they were not allowed to touch anything or person from higher castes.

They didn’t have access to the water sources used by others, didn’t have right to study. They were not allowed to enter temples.

One of the most prominent leaders who worked for their rights was Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.

They cannot get job, they cannot get bank loan and many other obstruction faced by them.

They are deprived from all govt, facilities.
